In a quiet corner of Kumaon, Uttarakhand grows a variety of soybean, which has been growing for 4000 years and is nothing short of a superfood. Health on Plants uses the same black soybean to create its black tofu, which is packed with nutrients and is delicious too. Handcrafted using ancient Japanese methods, this tofu has absolutely no artificial preservatives, flavour additives or chemicals used to prepare this deliciously healthy purple coloured tofu.
Commercially prepared tofu may have chemicals such as salicylic acid and DHA in it. Studies have indicated that while salicylic acid could cause breathing trouble, itching, hives, and swelling, DHA (Docosahexaenoic Acid) may lead to nausea, bruising and bleeding.
